Tips on Preparing Your Home for a Window Replacement

Before starting with a window and door replacement project, you need to make sure your home is ready. Replacing your windows may cause disruptions for at least a day. However, with proper preparation, you can avoid issues during installation day.

Read on for tips on how to prepare your home for a window replacement.

Remove Furnishings Near the Windows

Any decor and furnishings surrounding the windows to be replaced must be removed, including curtains, wall art, rugs, and plants. This is so workers can work easily and faster. Moreover, these items must be kept in a place where they can stay safe and in good shape.

You should also remove outdoor furniture and anything hanging on the exterior walls. The installer may need to use ladders to work on your upstairs windows. Make sure that your window contractor has enough space to set up their equipment.

Cover Up Your Belongings

Installing your double hung replacement windows can create a lot of dust. Window installers usually place drop cloths to protect your home and belongings. To be sure the mess is minimal, you can place drop cloths on your floors and furniture. You may also discuss this matter with your contractor before installation it may be part of their service.

Plan for a Temporary Storage Space

You may not have enough storage space for your stuff if you’re replacing all windows in your home. Consider moving your things to your garage or basement or you may also rent a storage space. This step will help you ensure your belongings are in a safe place. Research your options and schedule delivery before the project starts to avoid delays.  For the best vinyl replacement windows, choose Renewal by Andersen® of Southwest Missouri. Reviews

"Quality product, quality workmanship. Everyone I interacted with at Renewal by Andersen of SW Missouri had pride in their work from sales to financing to project oversight to installation. It must be a great company to work for because that shows in the professionalism of the staff. Best of all, they want happy customers and go out of their way to make sure that happens. Yes, I love my windows (but I knew I would--it's a great product). Friendly, helpful, easy financing, and yes--they pass costs on to the customer for this, but it meant that I was able to get the windows I wanted and needed for my creaky, lopsided old house. Couldn't be more pleased."

"The company representative who met with me initially was very direct, told me how the process would go, explained about why Anderson windows are of such good quality and how they stand by their products and their workmanship. My 3 windows arrived when they said they would, & the men who installed them were very professional, polite, & efficient. They showed me how the windows work and left the room as tidy as it was before they did the installation."

"We just had our windows done by Renewal. They kept us informed about the progress of manafucture & installed at the approximate date. Good qualtity & if you didn't know that there were screens on the windows you would think they were missing. Very clear view. Great in this hot weather, the house stays cool."
